Iceland is a country of extreme contrasts. Widely known as “The Land of Fire and Ice”, Iceland is home to some of the largest glaciers in Europe, and some of the world’s most active volcanoes.
Iceland is also the land of light and darkness. Long summer days with near 24-hours of sunshine are offset by short winter days with only few hours of daylight.
From the moss covered lava fields in the southwest, through the barren highlands in the centre, to the soaring fjords in the northwest, a drive around Iceland will attest to the great diversity of landscape, which changes with every turn in the road, and of course with every changing season, each with its own charm.
Xploring Light are proud to present “WINTER Iceland” – A photographic trip which is bound to leave us speechless, we all have to Let go the Luxuries and be one with the Nature and enjoy the Lonely and isolated Countries of the world or we can call it Photographers Paradise.
We will be chasing the light, choosing beautiful and epic locations in the company of a great group of other enthusiastic photographers.
We are proud to bring you a tailor made trip, specially designed for photographers in love with landscape, waterfalls, seascape, stars, milky way, Northern Light & many more. In this trip we will be going through some amazing places where the beauty is so immense that only a artist can explain by painting / photographers by creating amazing images.
This 16 days journey will be a mad photographic journey from beaches to mountains & more.
This is a pure Exploring trip even though we have pre set destination we will be exploring more, rather than stick to those places so be warned if you are those kind who wants to stay in hotel & only want to shoot sunrise & sunset this trip is not for you guys
Also we will be sitting down to discusses the images taken during the day & go through them to see if they can be made better, also We will share our experience and technique with each other and take our photography skills to a higher level.
STRUCTURE:
Pre Tour Analysis:
Each registered participant will be requested to submit their landscape / portrait related images. Our panel will analyse each image to see how to guide each individual during the tour to help them enhance their skills. We will also provide individual feedback to their each submitted image and suggest improvement points.
During the Tour:
Based on the analytical data available with us post “Pre Tour Analysis” we will provide individualized attention to all and ensure they work on their weaknesses and enhance their skills. Evening Gup Shup sessions will be learning oriented and practical tips will be provided based on the mistakes committed by participants during the day.
We shall also have atleast one evening session dedicated to post processing workflow to help them become a complete photographer.
After the tour:
Each participant will be required to submit 3 of his or her best images from the tour. Each image will be analysed and constructive feedback will be provided. Best of the lot will make it to our website and blog; and will be aggressively promoted on FB.
DAY 01 (March 9) Arrive at Reykjavik. We leave our cozy beds on 8th night & reach Iceland on 9th around afternoon time. Proceed with Immigration/Baggage Claim procedures. Once everyone arrives we’ll meetup in the hotel lobby / designated area for a brief discussion to know each other & to discusses the upcoming days.
Day 02 (March 10) Gullfoss
We checkout & move towards Thingvellir National park. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site & to the famous hot spring Geysir in Haukadalur Valley, once we are done shooting & admiring these 2 places we check into our next hotel for the night & after lunch we move towards our main destination for Sunset & known as the most beautiful waterfall Gulfoss, if we are lucky we might be able to see Aurora Borealis tonight.

DAY 03 & 04 (March 11 & 12) South Iceland
11th We do sunrise shoot at Gullfoss & checkout to move towards South coast. We will be moving towards Iceland’s most picturesque waterfall Skogafoss. We check in first to our next hotel & if the weather is nice we start our journey to the famous WWII DC3 plane crash site, if weather is not good we might skip going to this place instead we shoot a nearby waterfall Seljalandsfoss.
12th We do Sunrise at Skogafoss & later on drive to Reynisfjara for sunset shoot later we come back to hotel & if we get lucky we might enjoy the dancing Northern Light. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 05 & 06 (March 13 & 14) Vatnajokull National Park
13th We do early check out & move for our long awaited & Unique Experience of shooting photos of Ice Cave situated below Vatnajokull Glacier. You will have ampel time to roam & take photos inside the cave.
We check in to our next hotel & after lunch we move out to do Sunset at Glacier Lagoon here you will witness the mighty Glaciers floating in the water, our Northern light haunt will continue & if we are lucky we might see the most beautiful Mountain of Vestrahorn under the dancing Northern Light.
14th We do Sunrise at Ice beach & day time we spend time exploring Vik, we will visit the Black sand beach & for sunset we will be shooting majestic mountain of Vestrahorn.
DAY 07 (March 15) Snaefellsnes
We do Sunrise at Stokksness & check out after Breakfast. We have long drive ahead & we shoot on the way. After check in if we have time we will shoot at Krikjufell.
DAY 08 & 09 (March 16 & 17) Snaefellsnes – Reykjavik
16th Morning we shoot the Spectacular cliffs of Arnarstapi then the famous Black Church, do proper Sunset at Krikjufell. Once again we will keep our eye open for the Northern Light & we might get lucky.
17th Sunrise shoot at Krikjufel, check out after breakfast & move to Reykjavik city. Spend the evening exploring Reyjkavik.
DAY 10 (March 18) Reykjavik
This is our final day. Spend the morning at ease. Check out at noon and bid goodbye to this planet Iceland.
